Registered Nurse - Med Surg Oncology
Location: Columbus, OH

Contract Type: Travel Contract
Shift Type: Night, 3x12-hour (07:00 PM - 07:30 AM), typically 3 nights per week; schedule is self-scheduled and reviewed every 4 weeks. Note: first week orientation is Mon-Fri days, second week includes 36 hours on-unit with a preceptor; accepting 12D/N rotating contracts means you may be scheduled for days, nights, or a mix depending on unit needs.

Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide high-acuity care for medical oncology and PCU/MS Tele patients with compassion and clinical excellence
- Monitor telemetry and interpret dysrhythmias to support timely cardiac interventions
- Manage IV therapy including starting/maintaining IVs, PICC line care, and central line blood draws
- Administer and monitor blood products safely and follow transfusion protocols
- Operate and troubleshoot Alaris pumps, PCA pumps, bladder scanners, and GE telemetry monitors
- Perform Continuous Bladder Irrigation and manage genitourinary/renal needs
- Participate in rapid response and code teams when necessary to help save lives
- Adhere to infection prevention and isolation precautions to keep patients and staff safe
- Document thoroughly in Epic to ensure clear communication across the care team
- Float to units of equivalent or lower acuity as needed to support patient care and staffing
Qualifications
- Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) - required
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) - preferred
- Epic charting experience - required
- Oncology experience preferred but not required; 2 years oncology experience preferred
- Must meet experience requirements within the past 3 years; at least 1 year of current specialty experience for clinical pass
- Previous travel experience preferred
- Willingness to float within MS/Tele units and collaborate with interdisciplinary teams
- Open to professional development, including offered chemo training
Knowledge & Skills
- Med-Surg and PCU/MS Tele nursing for high-acuity patients
- Telemetry monitoring and management of dysrhythmias
- IV therapy, PICC line management, peripheral and central line care
- Blood product administration and transfusion monitoring
- Continuous Bladder Irrigation (CBI) and genitourinary care
- Use of Alaris infusion pumps, PCA pumps, bladder scanner, and GE B450 telemetry
- Infection prevention protocols and fall prevention strategies
- Respiratory support skills: BiPAP/CPAP, HFNC, tracheostomy care basics
- Basic wound care and familiarity with wound vacs
- Familiarity with rapid response/code team processes and emergency management
