Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, 1:1 active labor support following AWHONN staffing standards
• Continuously monitor and interpret fetal heart tracings using external fetal monitoring (EFM)
• Administer and titrate medications such as magnesium sulfate and oxytocin (Pitocin) safely
• Perform sterile vaginal exams and assist with labor progression assessments
• Collaborate with anesthesia for epidural care and support pain management plans
• Triage obstetrical patients and prioritize care based on acuity
• Document patient care accurately and timely in Epic
• Work closely with interdisciplinary teams (Respiratory, Pharmacy, Radiology, Social Services) to coordinate care
• Float to other units/facilities as needed to support patient care and staffing demands

Qualifications

• Current, unrestricted RN license for the state of Oregon (required)
• Minimum 1 year LDRP experience required; 2 years preferred
• NRP required
• BLS required; FHM and additional maternal-child certifications preferred
• Experience with 1:1 labor and 1:3 postpartum ratios (AWHONN standards)
• Comfortable charting in Epic (preferred)
• Reliable transportation/vehicle required to travel between facilities when assigned
• Ability to work night shifts and every-other-weekend schedule

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong fetal monitoring skills and recognition/treatment of abnormal fetal heart rate patterns
• Proficiency with external fetal monitoring (EFM) and NSTs
• Skilled in sterile vaginal exams and obstetric triage
• Medication administration experience including magnesium sulfate and oxytocin
• Familiarity with epidural anesthesia support and pain management
• Comfort working in a teaching hospital and critical access/trauma center environment
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills across disciplines
• Ability to adapt and float to other units as needed
