Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality emergency nursing care for a fast-paced, high-acuity ED serving a 27-bed unit
• Perform advanced interventions such as rapid sequence intubation (RSI) and central line care/placement when indicated
• Identify and initiate sepsis interventions promptly to improve patient outcomes
• Execute stroke protocol including NIH stroke scale assessment and tPA administration per policy
• Coordinate safe transfers and ensure EMTALA compliance when moving patients to other facilities
• Document patient care accurately and efficiently in the Meditech EMR
• Work collaboratively with physicians, medics and the interdisciplinary team to maintain safe patient ratios (typically 4-6:1)
• Model calm, team-oriented behavior and contribute to a respectful unit culture

Qualifications

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license required
• BLS, ACLS and PALS certifications required
• Must have completed 2-3 prior travel assignments
• 2-3 years of emergency department (ER) experience required
• Preferred certifications: TNCC, ENPC, NRP and NIH Stroke Scale experience
• Experience in high-acuity, high-volume emergency settings and comfort with 5:1 patient ratios preferred

Education

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license (degree not specified in posting)

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong emergency nursing assessment and triage skills
• Familiarity with Meditech EMR for documentation and order management
• Proficiency with RSI, central line care/placement and sepsis protocols
• Knowledge of stroke recognition and tPA administration workflow
• Ability to manage transfers and EMTALA processes
• Excellent teamwork, communication and crisis management abilities
• Comfort working in a fast-paced, unpredictable environment
