Roles & Responsibilities

• Assess and prioritize emergency patients quickly and accurately to deliver lifesaving care
• Perform advanced procedures such as ultrasound-guided IV insertion and IO insertion when indicated
• Manage trauma and stroke cases, initiating protocol-driven treatment and collaborating with specialty teams
• Interpret EKGs and monitor cardiopulmonary status, responding to changes with appropriate interventions
• Administer medications and operate ED equipment (Alaris pumps, Lucas device, Hotline Rapid Infuser) safely
• Document thoroughly in the EMR (Sunrise/Allscripts) and communicate key information to peers and physicians
• Support patient flow in a busy ED environment, adapting during surges and maintaining patient safety
• Provide compassionate care to patients with complex comorbidities and psychiatric needs

Qualifications

• Current, active RN license (able to work in New Hampshire)
• Minimum 2 years of Emergency Department (ED) nursing experience for contract candidates
• Current BLS, ACLS, PALS and TNCC certifications required for contract labor
• Strong assessment, critical thinking, and communication skills
• Comfortable with trauma/stroke protocols, EKG interpretation, and high-acuity care
• Familiarity with Sunrise/Allscripts EMR and point-of-care systems like Pyxis
• Dependable, punctual, and able to work every other weekend as required

Knowledge & Skills

• Emergency Department nursing and patient assessment
• IV/IO insertion and ultrasound-guided vascular access
• EKG interpretation and cardiopulmonary monitoring
• Trauma care, stroke care, DKA and sepsis management
• Experience with ED equipment: Alaris pumps, Lucas device, Hotline Rapid Infuser, Pyxis
• Familiarity with Sunrise/Allscripts EMR workflows
• Strong medical terminology and protocol-driven decision making
• Psychiatric care in a secure annex/behavioral holding setting
