Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, high-quality nursing care to emergency department patients
• Perform rapid triage and prioritize care in high-acuity situations
• Initiate and manage resuscitation protocols and emergency interventions when needed
• Administer medications, start IVs, and manage complex clinical treatments safely
• Collaborate with physicians, techs, and support staff to coordinate efficient patient flow
• Document assessments, interventions, and patient responses accurately in the chart
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives and help maintain a safe clinical environment
• Precept and mentor new staff and fellow travelers to share best practices

Qualifications

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in Illinois or eligibility via compact RN license
• BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required; ACLS and PALS preferred or obtainable
• ED nursing experience preferred; confident in rapid assessment and emergency interventions
• Current immunizations and health screening per facility policy
• Professional attitude, strong communication skills, and ability to work independently on night shift

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) required; Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong triage and emergency assessment skills
• Proficiency with IV therapy, medication administration, and emergency protocols
• Ability to manage multiple high-acuity patients and prioritize effectively
• Comfortable working with electronic health record systems and accurate documentation
• Excellent teamwork, communication, and critical thinking under pressure
