Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide thorough diagnostic evaluations and design individualized treatment plans to help patients reach their highest level of function
- Deliver hands-on therapy using therapeutic exercises, sensorimotor integration techniques, and visual perceptual-motor remediation
- Develop and instruct patients and families on home programs and adaptive strategies for daily living and safety
- Recommend and train patients in the use of adaptive equipment and orthoses, and provide splinting as appropriate
- Perform home assessments and collaborate with schools, nursing homes, and community agencies to support patient transitions
- Document timely, accurate patient records and maintain regulatory and departmental standards
- Lead prevocational and functional programs to prepare patients for return to work or community participation
- Participate in departmental quality improvement activities and represent the organization professionally in the community
Qualifications
- Current valid Washington state Occupational Therapist license (or actively in process of obtaining) required
- Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Doctorate degree in Occupational Therapy required
- One year of clinical experience preferred, but new graduates are welcome to apply
- Ability to complete mandatory education and maintain regulatory requirements
- Strong communication skills and ability to educate patients, families, and interdisciplinary teams
- Commitment to professional appearance, punctuality, and departmental policies
Education
- Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Doctorate degree in Occupational Therapy (required)
Knowledge & Skills
- Patient evaluation and treatment planning
- Therapeutic exercise prescription and implementation
- Documentation and record-keeping consistent with departmental standards
- Splinting and adaptive equipment recommendations
- Sensorimotor integration and visual perceptual-motor remediation techniques
- Home assessment and prevocational program design
- Understanding of HIPAA and confidentiality requirements
- Ability to analyze clinical data, problem-solve, and teach patients and caregivers
