Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, evidence-based nursing care to laboring and postpartum patients
• Continuously monitor maternal and fetal status using fetal heart monitoring and intervene as needed
• Perform skilled clinical tasks including IV therapy, medication administration, and assessments
• Collaborate closely with obstetricians, midwives, neonatology and the extended care team to ensure safe deliveries
• Respond promptly to emergent situations and assist with emergency deliveries when required
• Educate patients and families on labor progress, pain management, postpartum care, and newborn basics
• Document care clearly and accurately in the medical record, ensuring continuity and compliance
• Participate in unit competency testing and quality improvement activities to maintain high standards

Qualifications

• Current, active Registered Nurse license (state of practice) with License/Certificate Verification
• BLS (Basic Life Support) required
• NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) required
• AWHONN certification and documented Fetal Heart Monitoring competency required
• Completion of Trinity Specialty Specific Competency Testing and Trinity Skills Checklist
• Pre-employment requirements: fit test, drug screen, immunizations (COVID-19, MMR, Hep B, Influenza, Varicella), TB testing or IGRA, and physical/health statement

Education

• Active RN license required
• ADN or BSN in Nursing preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong clinical knowledge of labor and delivery processes and maternal-fetal physiology
• Skilled in electronic medical record documentation and accurate charting
• Proficient in fetal heart monitoring interpretation and maternal/fetal assessment
• Ability to perform neonatal resuscitation per NRP guidelines
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills for multidisciplinary collaboration
• Ability to prioritize, triage, and respond calmly in high-acuity situations
