Roles & Responsibilities

• Lead infection surveillance and prevention efforts in the operating room and sterile processing areas
• Develop, implement, and enforce infection control policies and best practices across the hospital
• Conduct staff education and competency training on sterile technique and OR protocols
• Perform audits and monitor compliance, reporting findings and improvement plans to leadership
• Investigate and manage infection incidents in collaboration with multidisciplinary teams
• Maintain accurate documentation, prepare reports, and support regulatory readiness

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Hawaii or appropriate multistate/compact licensure
• Demonstrated experience in Infection Control within operating room and sterile processing settings
• Community hospital experience preferred
• Strong communication, leadership, and collaboration skills
• Current BLS required; Certification in Infection Control (CIC) preferred
• Willingness to participate in hospital committees and quality improvement initiatives

Education

• Registered Nurse (RN) license required
• Associate degree in Nursing required; BSN preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• In-depth knowledge of infection prevention principles and surveillance methods
• Understanding of sterile processing workflows, OR protocols, and perioperative practices
• Experience with policy development, audits, and regulatory compliance
• Comfortable with EMR documentation and basic data analysis for infection trends
• Ability to educate staff and lead interdisciplinary initiatives effectively
• Familiarity with community hospital operations and patient safety practices
