Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate personal care and support to residents, preserving dignity and independence
• Assist with activities of daily living including bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting
• Monitor residents, take basic vital signs, and promptly report any changes to the nursing team
• Document care accurately and thoroughly to maintain clear resident records
• Support safe mobility and transfers using appropriate body mechanics and equipment
• Build trusting relationships with residents and families through effective, empathetic communication
• Follow infection control practices and maintain a clean, safe care environment
• Collaborate with nursing staff to ensure continuity of care during night shifts

Qualifications

• Current GNA certification required
• Previous experience in geriatric or long-term care preferred
• Current CPR/BLS certification or willingness to obtain upon hire
• Ability to pass background and health screenings per facility policy
• Strong communication skills and a patient, team-oriented attitude
• Flexible availability for night shifts

Education

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred
• GNA certification required

Knowledge & Skills

• Understanding of activities of daily living (ADLs) and elder care best practices
• Basic vital signs measurement and observation skills
• Safe resident handling and transfer techniques
• Infection prevention and proper use of PPE
• Accurate documentation and charting abilities
• Dementia-aware care approaches and de-escalation techniques
• Time management and ability to prioritize resident needs during the shift
• Comfort working within a long-term care or skilled nursing environment
