Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate direct care to geriatric residents, supporting daily living activities
• Assist with bathing, dressing, feeding, and mobility while preserving dignity and comfort
• Monitor and report changes in resident condition to nursing staff promptly
• Support safe transfers and positioning, using proper body mechanics and lift assistance
• Document care activities accurately and timely in resident records
• Collaborate with the care team to implement individualized care plans
• Maintain a clean, safe environment and follow infection control practices
• Engage residents with respectful communication and meaningful social interaction

Qualifications

• GNA (Geriatric Nursing Assistant) certification — required
• Current CPR/BLS certification (preferred or required depending on facility policy)
• Valid state nursing assistant registration or licensure as applicable
• Background check, TB screening, and required health clearances per facility policy
• Comfort working night shift and supporting geriatric populations with empathy
• Strong communication skills and ability to work well within a multidisciplinary team

Education

• High school diploma or GED
• Completion of an accredited GNA/assistant training program

Knowledge & Skills

• Knowledge of geriatric care principles and common age-related conditions
• Basic clinical skills: vital signs, ADL assistance, safe transfers and mobility support
• Familiarity with infection control standards and resident safety protocols
• Ability to observe, document, and escalate changes in resident status
• Compassionate interpersonal skills and patience for dementia and memory-care needs
• Time management and the ability to prioritize resident-centered tasks during a shift
