Roles & Responsibilities

• Assist residents with daily living activities — bathing, dressing, grooming and mobility support
• Provide compassionate personal care and companionship to enhance resident well-being
• Monitor and record vital signs and resident conditions accurately and promptly
• Support safe transfers and use proper lifting techniques to protect residents and staff
• Document care activities and communicate changes to nurses and interdisciplinary team members
• Help maintain a clean, comfortable living environment and follow infection control protocols
• Participate in care planning and support resident independence and dignity

Qualifications

• GNA certification (required)
• Prior experience caring for geriatric or long-term care residents preferred
• BLS/CPR certification preferred or willingness to obtain
• Ability to pass background check, drug screen, and required health screenings (e.g., TB)
• Strong communication skills and a teamwork mindset
• Reliable, punctual, and able to handle physical demands of caregiving

Education

• High school diploma or GED preferred
• Completion of an accredited Geriatric Nursing Assistant program or equivalent

Knowledge & Skills

• Person-centered care and empathy for older adults
• Basic clinical skills: taking vitals, reporting changes, safe transfer techniques
• Familiarity with infection control and hygiene best practices
• Good documentation habits and basic charting skills
• Time management and the ability to prioritize resident needs
• Effective communication with residents, families, and care teams
