Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality occupational therapy assistance under the direction of an OTR to help patients regain daily living skills
• Deliver individualized therapeutic activities and adaptive strategies that promote independence
• Assist with patient assessments, progress documentation, and care plan implementation
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to coordinate patient-centered care
• Educate patients and families on home programs, adaptive equipment, and safety strategies
• Maintain accurate, timely documentation in facility systems and contribute to quality improvement efforts

Qualifications

• Active COTA / Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant credential
• Graduation from an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant program or equivalent training
• Reliable availability for the scheduled day shift (8:00 AM - 4:30 PM), including weekends
• Strong communication and teamwork skills to collaborate with patients, families, and clinical staff
• Current basic life support (BLS) certification or willingness to obtain if required by the facility

Education

• Completion of an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant (OTA) program

Knowledge & Skills

• Foundational knowledge of therapeutic activity planning and ADL training
• Skilled in patient positioning, transfers, and adaptive equipment use
• Competent documentation and progress note writing
• Ability to follow clinical plans and implement evidence-based approaches
• Good clinical judgment, time management, and patient education techniques
