Roles & Responsibilities

• Assess and monitor patients on the MedSurg/Telemetry unit, prioritizing safety and quality care
• Interpret telemetry strips and sign at least once per shift to ensure cardiac changes are addressed
• Provide post-operative and medical care for general, orthopedic and spinal surgical patients
• Manage respiratory support including BiPAP, CPAP and high-flow oxygen therapies as needed
• Administer and manage set-rate drips per protocol (example: diltiazem) and escalate per policy
• Document accurately in Cerner, ensuring clear, timely charting and handoffs
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including remote telemonitoring techs and RTs, to coordinate patient care
• Float to East Campus or PCU when needed, adapting to unit-specific workflows and patient populations

Qualifications

• Active RN license in Arizona (or eligible to obtain one prior to start)
• BLS and ACLS certifications required
• Minimum ~2 years of RN experience preferred (MedSurg/Telemetry or surgical/orthopedic experience helpful)
• Comfortable reading basic telemetry strips and providing care for CVA/TIA patients
• Experience with Cerner recommended (one day of unit orientation — be ready to hit the ground running)
• Ability to work rotating night shifts, weekends per schedule, and float when required

Education

• Active RN license required (ADN or BSN). BSN not required but welcomed.

Knowledge & Skills

• Telemetry strip interpretation and cardiac monitoring best practices
• MedSurg and orthopedic surgical patient care, including post-op management
• CVA/TIA acute care knowledge and monitoring
• Familiarity with BiPAP, CPAP and high-flow oxygen systems
• Cerner electronic charting proficiency
• Excellent clinical judgment, time management, and teamwork on a fast-paced acute care unit
