Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, family-centered care to postpartum mothers and their newborns in a 34-bed mother-baby unit
• Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate nursing care for couplets (mother and baby) with a patient ratio of 1:3-4 couplets
• Assist with circumcisions and newborn screenings, ensuring education and support for new parents
• Monitor and care for patients receiving Magnesium Sulfate post-delivery, managing potential complications
• Collaborate with L&D and NICU teams as a helping hand, ensuring seamless care transitions
• Document patient care thoroughly in Cerner EMR system
• Educate families on infant care, breastfeeding, and postpartum recovery to promote optimal outcomes

Qualifications

• Active RN license in North Carolina or compact state (NLC)
• Minimum 2 years of Mother Baby experience required
• Travel experience preferred
• Must be a team player with a passion for teaching and supporting new families
• Ability to float to L&D and NICU as needed (as helping hands)

Knowledge & Skills

• Proficiency in Cerner electronic medical records
• Strong clinical skills in postpartum and newborn care, including MgSO4 management
• Excellent communication and patient education abilities
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, family-centered environment
• Knowledge of STABLE certification (preferred)
