Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality nursing care to adult patients in a 40-bed Progressive Care Unit, managing cardiac drips, interpreting telemetry, and responding to changing patient conditions
• Titrate intravenous medications including Heparin, Nitro, Dopamine, Cardizem, and Amiodarone as ordered
• Collaborate with charge nurses, techs, and multidisciplinary team to ensure optimal patient outcomes
• Float to MedSurg or ICU as needed to care for PCU-acuity patients
• Educate patients and families on diagnoses, treatment plans, and medications, focusing on communication and patient experience
• Maintain a safe environment, adhering to facility policies including artificial nail restrictions

Qualifications

• Current and unrestricted RN license in Nebraska or compact state
• BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required at time of submission
• Competency in arterial line management
• Valid driver's license (required at submittal for mileage verification)
• Ability to pass an open-book skills exam with 90% during orientation
• Flexibility to work every other weekend and a minimum of 2 holidays per contract

Knowledge & Skills

• Proficient in titration of cardiac drips and telemetry interpretation
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills
• Cultural sensitivity to care for diverse populations including Hispanic and Somalian communities
• Adaptability to fast-paced, high-acuity environment
• Experience with high-flow oxygen therapy and patient education
