Shift Type: Rotating 12-hour day and night shifts (approximately 36 hours/week). Shift times include 8:30 AM - 8:30 PM, 6:00 AM - 6:00 PM, and 6:00 PM - 6:00 AM. Schedule includes weekends and holidays as required (possibly every other weekend).

Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, patient-centered nursing care for youth and adult behavioral health populations
• Perform thorough assessments, develop care plans, and document care accurately in Cerner
• Use trauma-informed approaches to de-escalate situations and reduce restraint use
• Manage patient ratios safely (example: youth avg. 1:4 day, 1:3 night) and prioritize patient safety
• Float between Youth and Adult units as census requires, maintaining continuity of care
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to coordinate treatment and discharge planning
• Maintain professional certifications and participate in ongoing training like CPI
• Deliver clear, timely communication with patients, families, and team members

Qualifications

• Valid Wisconsin RN license required at time of submission
• Current BLS certification required
• CPI certification required or willing to obtain within 45 days of start
• Minimum 2+ years recent behavioral health nursing experience
• Comfortable floating between youth and adult behavioral health units
• Experience with Cerner charting preferred
• Ability to work rotating 12-hour shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays as needed

Knowledge & Skills

• Trauma-informed care principles and compassionate engagement
• De-escalation and crisis intervention techniques
• Patient ratio management and safe staffing awareness
• Strong clinical assessment and psychiatric nursing skills
• Proficiency or willingness to learn Cerner electronic charting
• Effective teamwork, communication, and conflict resolution
• Flexibility and sound judgment when working 'in the grey'
• Youth and adult behavioral health best practices
