Location: Sitka, AK

Start Date: 07-27-2026

Contract Type: Travel Contract

Shift Type: 4X10, 7:30 AM - 6:30 PM, coverage will include weekends and holidays and call time

Hours per Week: 40

Candidate Pay Rate: $84 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities

Review prescriptions for appropriateness, legality, and safety before dispensing
Provide clear patient counseling on medications and expected outcomes
Collaborate with medical and nursing staff on drug therapy decisions
Maintain accurate records and ensure compliance with state and federal laws
Lead quality improvement initiatives and participate in departmental meetings
Supervise pharmacy technicians and serve as a mentor to students
Perform chart reviews and medication therapy management for optimal patient care

Qualifications

Current, unrestricted Alaska Pharmacist License required
Pharm.D. degree or Bachelor of Pharmacy with 3 years of hospital or ambulatory experience
BLS/BCLS certification required
Flu vaccination required
Preferred: ASHP-accredited pharmacy residency and hospital or ambulatory clinic experience

Education

Pharm.D. degree required; Bachelor of Pharmacy accepted with 3 years of relevant experience if licensed before 2003

Knowledge & Skills

Strong knowledge of pharmaceutical sciences and drug dosage calculations
Expertise in state and federal pharmacy laws
Excellent patient communication and clinical consultation skills
Ability to work independently with sound professional judgment
Proficiency with pharmacy software and computer applications
Comfortable handling interruptions and adapting to changing workloads
