Roles & Responsibilities
- Assist clinicians with ambulatory care tasks and patient flow to keep the clinic running smoothly
- Prepare exam rooms and ensure necessary supplies and instruments are ready
- Obtain and document patient vital signs and basic histories accurately
- Support procedures and treatments per clinic protocol while maintaining patient comfort and safety
- Maintain clear, timely clinical documentation in the medical record
- Coordinate patient check-in/check-out and help schedule follow-up appointments
- Communicate compassionately with patients and family members to provide a positive care experience
- Participate in orientation and ongoing training to stay current and effective
Qualifications
- Medical Assistant certification or completion of an accredited MA program preferred
- Current BLS/CPR certification or willingness to obtain during orientation
- Prior experience in an ambulatory clinic or outpatient setting is a plus
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work well in a team
- Comfortable with basic clinical tasks such as phlebotomy, injections, or EKGs if required by the site
- Basic computer skills and ability to document in an electronic health record
Education
- High school diploma or GED required
- Medical Assistant certificate or diploma preferred
Knowledge & Skills
- Understanding of ambulatory clinic workflows and patient triage
- Proficient in taking accurate vital signs and documenting clinical information
- Familiarity with infection control and universal precautions
- Good organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced outpatient setting
- Clear verbal and written communication with patients and clinical staff
