Roles & Responsibilities

• Screen, evaluate, and rehabilitate patients with communication, cognitive, or swallowing disorders using evidence-based practice
• Develop and update individualized plans of care that follow regulatory and clinical practice standards
• Perform standardized assessments and document findings in the electronic medical record
• Track patient progress, adjust treatments based on outcomes, and provide comprehensive discharge summaries
• Provide counseling and education to patients, families, caregivers, and other providers
• Communicate effectively with supervisors and multidisciplinary team members about barriers and treatment plans
• Participate in patient care conferences, utilization review, rehab meetings, trainings, and in-services
• Obtain necessary DME and supplies and ensure accurate recording of treatment minutes

Qualifications

• Active CCC-SLP required
• Missouri state licensure required (Compact allowed)
• Minimum 1 year of SLP experience required; new grads accepted with Level II experience
• LTC or Rehab experience required
• Ability to supervise and support CFY and student Speech-Language Pathologists
• Strong documentation skills and familiarity with electronic medical records
• Adherence to ASHA and state practice acts, code of conduct, and clinical ethics

Education

• Certification: Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology (CCC-SLP) required
• State Licensure: Missouri license required
• New graduates must have Level II clinical experience (Level I observation-only experience is not sufficient)

Knowledge & Skills

• Skilled with standardized assessments and evidence-based interventions
• Experience with swallowing disorders (dysphagia) evaluation and treatment
• Comfort providing group therapy and individual treatment sessions
• Understanding of Medicare rules and productivity expectations
• Excellent multidisciplinary communication and collaboration skills
• Competence in treatment planning, documentation, and outcome evaluation
• Ability to manage productivity and caseload flow in LTC/rehab settings
