Roles & Responsibilities

• Perform thorough head-to-toe assessments and timely reassessments to keep patients safe and informed
• Assess and manage pain using evidence-based techniques and teach patients/families how to manage pain effectively
• Develop, revise and evaluate individualized plans of care daily to ensure the best outcomes
• Provide age-appropriate care across the lifespan, applying growth and development principles
• Administer medications safely following the five rights and monitor patient response
• Create and activate teaching plans, evaluate learning, and involve family in education as appropriate
• Coordinate and supervise patient care, collaborating with interdisciplinary teams and care coordination
• Document care accurately to meet current standards and hospital policies

Qualifications

• Active Ohio nursing license or compact nursing license at time of submission (required)
• Minimum 1 year L&D experience (required)
• Postpartum and nursery experience (required)
• Current ACLS (AHA), BLS (AHA), and NRP certifications — must be active at time of start (required)
• BSN degree preferred
• If COVID vaccinated, provide vaccination card (optional)
• Current AHA certifications and completed skills checklist within 1 year

Education

• BSN degree preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Patient assessment and clinical judgment within scope of licensure
• Medication administration (five rights) and age-appropriate dosing knowledge
• Pain assessment and management techniques
• Plan of care development, daily evaluation, and documentation that meets policy standards
• Patient and family education and teaching plan development
• Experience with bedside blood glucose waived testing
• Interdisciplinary communication and care coordination
• Familiarity with EMR: Meditech and safe equipment operation
