Speech-Language Pathologist - Long-Term Care (LTC)

Location: Humansville, Missouri

Start Date: 08-17-2026

Contract Type: Travel Contract

Shift Type: Monday-Friday, 8-hour days; flexible start time between 6:00 AM and 10:00 AM, 35 guaranteed weekly hours. No weekends unless a holiday falls within Monday-Friday; then hours may be made up on the weekend. No on-call.

Hours per Week: 40

Candidate Pay Rate: $60 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Screen, evaluate, and treat patients with communication, cognitive, and swallowing disorders to help them reach their fullest potential
  • Develop individualized plans of care following all regulatory and clinical practice standards
  • Use standardized assessments and evidence-based practice to guide clinical interventions
  • Monitor patient progress, adjust treatments as needed, and document outcomes in the electronic medical record
  • Provide compassionate counseling and education to patients, families, caregivers, and other service providers
  • Collaborate with the rehab team and participate in patient care conferences, utilization reviews, and facility meetings
  • Supervise and mentor CFY or student Speech-Language Pathologists
  • Maintain compliance with ASHA and state practice acts, ethics, and documentation requirements

Qualifications

  • Missouri Speech-Language Pathologist license required
  • Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology (CCC-SLP) required
  • At least one year of SLP experience; new grads with Level II clinical experience (not just Level I observation) are welcome
  • Long-term care or rehabilitation experience required
  • One professional reference available at the time of submission

Knowledge & Skills

  • Strong clinical knowledge in speech-language pathology across patient populations
  • Experience working in long-term care and rehabilitation settings
  • Skilled in patient evaluation and evidence-based treatment planning
  • Excellent clinical documentation habits and attention to detail
  • Comfort using electronic documentation systems and communicating with interdisciplinary teams
  • Understanding of ASHA and state regulatory standards
