Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide respiratory assessment and deliver evidence-based respiratory care to patients with acute respiratory insufficiency
• Operate and manage mechanical ventilators including Servo I, Hamilton, V60 and Astral with expertise and safety
• Perform arterial blood gas sampling and interpretation to guide ventilator and oxygen therapy
• Deliver aerosol, CPAP and BiPAP therapy and perform chest physiotherapy as clinically indicated
• Document assessments, treatments and progress accurately in the electronic medical record (Meditech)
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams including physicians and nursing to optimize patient outcomes
• Participate in unit initiatives, support quality improvement and maintain a patient-centered approach

Qualifications

• Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential required
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
• Minimum 2 years of recent acute care hospital RRT experience
• Comfortable and experienced with mechanical ventilation in acute care settings
• Meditech EMR experience preferred by leadership
• Trauma experience is a strong plus

Knowledge & Skills

• Mechanical ventilation management and troubleshooting
• Experience with Servo I, Hamilton, V60 and Astral ventilators
• CPAP and BiPAP setup and management
• Arterial blood gas (ABG) sampling and interpretation
• Chest physiotherapy (CPT) and other respiratory procedures
• Familiarity with Meditech electronic medical record
• Strong critical thinking, teamwork and patient-focused care
