Roles & Responsibilities

• Monitor and interpret cardiac telemetry, responding promptly to changes in patient status
• Provide high-quality med-surg and telemetry nursing care for a 6:1 patient ratio
• Safely administer medications and IV infusions using Alaris and Kangaroo pumps
• Document assessments, interventions and patient progress in Meditech EMR accurately and timely
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to develop and implement individualized care plans
• Educate patients and families about diagnoses, treatments and discharge planning
• Maintain a calm, professional presence during emergencies and support unit workflow

Qualifications

• Active Texas RN license (required)
• BLS certification (required)
• ACLS certification (preferred)
• Minimum 1 year of recent experience in telemetry or med-surg/telemetry nursing
• Comfortable using Meditech EMR and infusion pumps (Alaris, Kangaroo)
• Ability to float between med-surg and telemetry units as needed

Education

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program (ADN or BSN)
• Current RN licensure (Texas) and required certifications as listed

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong telemetry monitoring and rhythm recognition skills
• Proficiency with Meditech electronic medical records
• Experience with Alaris and Kangaroo infusion pump programming and troubleshooting
• Solid medication administration and IV infusion skills
• Excellent communication, teamwork and patient/family education abilities
• Ability to prioritize in a fast-paced med-surg/telemetry environment
