Roles & Responsibilities

• Lead implementation and maintenance of an organization-wide risk management program in accordance with Alaska statutes
• Investigate and evaluate adverse incidents, conduct timely reporting, and coordinate disclosure and follow-up with patients, families, and the care team
• Direct and facilitate Root Cause Analyses (RCA) and Failure Mode and Effects Analyses (FMEA) to drive meaningful system improvements
• Provide leadership for patient safety initiatives, including Patient Safety Rounds and staff education to reduce preventable harm
• Collaborate closely with Medical Directors, the CMO, and corporate counsel on quality-of-care and peer review matters
• Support accreditation and quality improvement activities including chart audits, clinical reviews, and data support
• Develop and deliver risk management and patient safety education across departments; serve as a resource, mentor, and role model
• Monitor regulatory requirements (DNV, TJC, CMS, CARF) and state/federal laws to ensure organizational compliance and readiness

Qualifications

• Current, full, unrestricted, active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Alaska (agency staff must have active AK license; direct hire must have applied prior to start date)
• CPHRM certification required within two (2) years
• Clinical competency demonstrated within 3 months and maintained every 3 years
• Minimum of 3 years experience monitoring risk management, patient safety, quality, and regulatory requirements and coordinating process changes
• Proven leadership in facilitating cross-functional teams and working collaboratively across clinical and administrative groups
• Strong communication skills for effective disclosure, education, and interdisciplinary collaboration

• Regulatory compliance with DNV, TJC, CMS, CARF and relevant AK statutes
• Adverse incident investigation and disclosure processes
