Roles & Responsibilities

• Manage a 4:1 patient load in a 55-bed PCU, delivering high-quality care to adults with conditions like CVA, TIA, and respiratory distress
• Monitor telemetry and respond quickly to changes in patient status, including managing PCA pumps, cardizem, and insulin drips
• Collaborate with a tight-knit team of nurses, charge nurses, educators, and care managers to coordinate comprehensive patient care
• Document care in EPIC and use Alaris IV pumps to ensure accurate medication delivery
• Float to medical-surgical areas as needed to support the highest-need units
• Participate in hourly rounding and focus on responsiveness to improve patient experience

Qualifications

• Active RN license (compact license accepted)
• 2+ years of PCU, telemetry, or stepdown nursing experience
• Current ACLS and BLS certifications (NIHSS preferred)
• Experience with EPIC charting and Alaris IV pumps
• No BSN required - ADN and diploma nurses welcome
• Must meet the 50-mile radius rule and not be employed with any CommonSpirit/CHI facility

Knowledge & Skills

• Telemetry monitoring and rhythm interpretation
• Acute care skills for PCU/stepdown patients
• Comfortable with PCA pumps, cardizem, and insulin administration
• Strong communication and teamwork skills
• Quick problem-solving in a fast-paced environment
• Familiarity with EPIC and Alaris systems
