Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, expert nursing care to a diverse adult patient population in a fast-paced 40-bed Progressive Care Unit
• Monitor cardiac rhythms and interpret telemetry strips to detect subtle changes and intervene early
• Titrate critical drips including Heparin, Nitro, Dopamine, Cardizem, Amiodarone, and insulin with precision and confidence
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of physicians, charge nurses, and techs to develop and adjust patient care plans
• Educate patients and their families about diagnoses, medications, and post-discharge care to empower them in their recovery journey
• Document assessments, interventions, and outcomes accurately in EPIC charting system
• Support the unit by floating to MedSurg or ICU when needed, caring for PCU-level patients

Qualifications

• Active RN license in Nebraska or compact state required (2+ years of experience in progressive care or stepdown)
• Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications
• Proven competency in arterial line management and telemetry interpretation
• Experience titrating vasoactive and cardiac drips (Heparin, Nitro, Dopamine, Cardizem, Amiodarone, insulin)
• Willingness to float to MedSurg or ICU as patient acuity demands
• Ability to pass an open-book orientation exam with 90% or higher (resources provided)
• Flexible, adaptable, and a strong team player with excellent communication skills
• Valid driver's license for compliance with the 50-mile radius rule

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong knowledge of progressive care nursing for adult patients with cardiac, vascular, sepsis, stroke, and renal conditions
• Skilled in cardiac monitoring and telemetry interpretation (must read own strips)
• Competent in arterial line management and titration of critical drips
• Proficient with EPIC documentation and charting systems
• Understanding of high-flow oxygen therapy and troubleshooting
• Ability to work effectively in a culturally diverse environment, primarily serving Hispanic and Somalian populations
