Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide exceptional dental hygiene care to patients, including cleanings, scaling, and root planing
• Educate patients on oral hygiene and preventive care techniques to promote long-term dental health
• Take and develop dental x-rays, ensuring clear and accurate images for diagnosis
• Document patient care and treatment plans accurately in the electronic health record
• Assist the dentist during procedures and maintain a sterile, organized clinical environment
• Screen patients for oral diseases and collaborate with the dental team to deliver comprehensive care

Qualifications

• Active Dental Hygienist license in Virginia (or compact eligibility)
• Current CPR/BLS certification for healthcare providers
• Graduate of an accredited dental hygiene program
• Strong interpersonal skills and a commitment to patient-centered care
• Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative dental team

Knowledge & Skills

• Proficient in dental hygiene procedures, including ultrasonic scaling and polishing
• Knowledge of dental radiography and safety protocols
• Excellent communication skills for patient education and team collaboration
• Comfortable using dental software for scheduling, charting, and documentation
• Strong attention to detail and infection control practices
