Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide expert progressive care to patients with neuro and trauma conditions, ensuring safe, evidence-based practice
• Perform neuro and spinal checks, chest tube management, and other PCU-specific procedures with precision
• Administer IV infusions, manage PCA pumps, and coordinate blood transfusions while monitoring patient response
• Document thoroughly and accurately in Cerner to support continuity of care and multidisciplinary communication
• Collaborate with the care team to develop and adjust care plans that promote recovery and patient comfort
• Support safe patient handling using lifts and skylifts and coach patients and families through treatment plans

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) credential and relevant license to practice
• Minimum 2+ years progressive care, neuro, or trauma nursing experience (per posting)
• Current ACLS, BLS and NIHSS certifications (required)
• Experience with Cerner electronic medical record systems
• Comfortable with advanced PCU procedures: chest tubes, feeding tube placement, blood transfusion, IV/infusion therapy
• Team-player attitude, patient-focused mindset, and ability to adapt in a dynamic acute-care setting

Knowledge & Skills

• Progressive Care Unit (PCU) clinical skills and patient monitoring
• Neuro and trauma assessment including neuro/spinal checks
• IV/infusion therapy, PCA pump management and blood transfusion protocols
• Chest tube and trach care, feeding tube placement experience
• Familiarity with Cerner EMR documentation and workflows
• Safe patient handling using lifts and skylifts and familiarity with C-collar/TLSO brace application
