Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, patient-centered care to a diverse MedSurg/Tele population including joint replacements, fractures, COPD exacerbations, sepsis, and ortho trauma
• Monitor and interpret telemetry, and titrate drips such as heparin, lidocaine, and ketamine as ordered
• Manage multiple admissions, discharges, and daily patient flow while maintaining a 1:5-6 nurse-to-patient ratio
• Collaborate with charge nurses, patient care techs, and tele techs to deliver coordinated care
• Document accurately in EPIC and follow evidence-based practices for hourly rounding and responsiveness
• Float to other medical-surgical areas when needed and support patients of all cultures, including Spanish, Karen, and Burmese speakers

Qualifications

• Active RN license in Nebraska or a compact state with at least 2 years of Med-Surg/Tele experience
• Current BLS (AHA) required; ACLS preferred
• Experience with EPIC charting strongly preferred
• Comfortable titrating drips and caring for patients on telemetry
• Strong clinical judgment, time management, and teamwork skills
• Must live outside 50 miles from the facility and not be employed by CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity facilities (per radius rule)

Knowledge & Skills

• Solid understanding of MedSurg/Tele nursing, including post-op ortho care, wound care, and sepsis management
• Ability to interpret basic telemetry strips and respond to changes
• Proficiency with EPIC EHR and standard medical equipment
• Knowledge of PCA pumps and titratable drips like heparin, lidocaine, and ketamine
• Excellent communication and cultural awareness when caring for diverse patient populations
• Skilled in prioritizing care during high-volume admission and discharge days
