Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide exceptional nursing care to patients undergoing total joint replacements and spinal surgeries
• Monitor and administer medications including pain management, antibiotics, and blood products
• Collaborate with charge nurses and interdisciplinary team to ensure safe, patient-centered care
• Maintain a 1:5-6 nurse-to-patient ratio in a 22-bed unit with average daily census of 6
• Participate in orientation and pass an open-book skills exam to ensure competency
• Float to MedSurg, rehab, or PCU as needed, taking MedSurg acuity patients

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Nebraska or compact state
• BLS certification required (American Heart Association)
• Valid driver's license to confirm 50-mile radius compliance
• Recent experience in Med Surg or Ortho nursing preferred
• Willingness to work every other weekend and rotate holidays with permanent staff

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking abilities
• Proficient in managing pain medications, antibiotics, and blood transfusions
• Team-oriented with a flexible and adaptable approach
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to read telemetry strips (with tele tech support)
• Commitment to learning and following facility policies (e.g., artificial nail prohibition)
