Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, high-quality critical care to ICU patients during night shifts
• Monitor and respond to changes in patient condition with timely interventions
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to develop and implement patient care plans
• Administer medications, manage ventilators, and operate ICU equipment safely
• Document care accurately and communicate handoffs clearly at shift change
• Educate patients and families about care plans and recovery expectations
• Participate in quality improvement and safety initiatives on the unit

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license for California
• Prior ICU or critical care nursing experience preferred
• Basic Life Support (BLS) required; ACLS and PALS preferred or willing to obtain
• Comfortable with ventilator management, vasoactive drips, and ICU monitoring
• Excellent critical thinking, assessment, and communication skills
• Ability to work independently on per diem night shifts and integrate with the team

Education

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program (ADN or BSN)
• BSN preferred where available; new graduates should confirm eligibility for ICU per diem roles

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong critical care assessment and monitoring skills
• Competency with ventilators, infusion pumps, and ICU monitoring equipment
• Familiarity with electronic medical records and accurate clinical documentation
• Ability to prioritize in a high-acuity environment and remain calm under pressure
• Effective teamwork and clear communication with physicians and multidisciplinary staff
