Roles & Responsibilities
- Assess and triage patients quickly and effectively in the emergency room
- Provide skilled nursing care including medication administration and wound care
- Stabilize and monitor critically ill or injured patients using sound clinical judgement
- Collaborate with physicians, techs and support staff to deliver timely care
- Document patient care accurately and maintain clear, concise charts
- Educate patients and families about care plans, follow-up and discharge instructions
- Respond to emergencies with calm, decisive action and strong teamwork
Qualifications
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license (California) or eligibility to obtain
- Emergency department experience preferred
- Current BLS required; ACLS and PALS preferred or willing to obtain
- Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills
- Ability to work independently on per diem assignments and adapt quickly to new teams
Education
- Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required or equivalent
- BSN preferred where applicable
Knowledge & Skills
- Triage and emergency nursing principles
- Cardiac monitoring, IV therapy and medication administration
- Acute care assessment and rapid decision-making
- Proficient charting in electronic medical records
- Effective communication with multidisciplinary teams and patient families
