Shift Type: Rotating 12-hour shifts, 11:00 AM - 11:00 PM, 3x12 schedule (includes some weekends); full-time (nights noted in posting)

Roles & Responsibilities

Provide direct and indirect patient care in the Emergency Department with professional judgment and minimal supervision
Triage patients rapidly and accurately, prioritizing based on physical and psychosocial needs to optimize patient flow
Communicate proactively with ER physicians and mid-level providers about changes in patient condition and diagnostic results
Respond quickly and accurately to changes in patient status and treatment response
Lead and direct ED techs, registration staff and allied health personnel to ensure coordinated, safe care
Perform IV therapy and operate manual and electronic medical equipment safely and effectively
Document assessments, interventions and patient responses clearly and timely to support continuity of care

Qualifications

Current MT Registered Nurse (RN) license required
Degree from an accredited nursing program required; BSN preferred
BLS, ACLS, PALS, TNCC, ENPC required or to be obtained within 6 months of hire
Minimum 2 years Emergency Department experience required
Certified Emergency Nurse (CEN) is preferred
Ability to pass pre-employment screening: criminal background check, drug screen, health and immunizations screening

Education

Degree from an accredited nursing program (required)
Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred

Knowledge & Skills

Strong Emergency Department nursing principles and procedures
Skilled in triage and patient assessment
IV therapy and ability to use manual and electronic medical equipment
Effective communication with physicians, mid-level providers, patients and families
Basic computer and office skills for documentation and coordination of care
Teamwork, flexibility and the ability to supervise and direct support staff
