Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide safe, high-quality perioperative nursing care in the Cardiovascular OR (CVOR)
• Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesia, and perioperative teams to optimize patient outcomes
• Perform thorough pre-op, intra-op, and post-op assessments and documentation in Cerner
• Maintain required certifications (BLS, ACLS) and apply them during critical events
• Support unit flow by floating to other areas when CV cases are not available
• Participate in unit-based quality improvement and patient safety initiatives
• Communicate clearly with patients and families to deliver compassionate, patient-centered care

Qualifications

• Current, active RN license (state licensure required)
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience (acute care/perioperative experience preferred)
• Required certifications: BLS and ACLS prior to or at start of assignment
• Experience or comfort with Cerner charting system
• Ability to float to other units as needed and adapt to varying case volumes
• Current basic perioperative knowledge and CVOR familiarity a plus

Education

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program (ADN/diploma or BSN). BSN not required for this role

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong perioperative and acute care clinical judgment
• Familiarity with cardiovascular operating room (CVOR) workflows and equipment
• Proficient charting/documentation skills in Cerner
• Ability to respond effectively in emergencies and use ACLS/BLS protocols
• Team-oriented communication and collaboration skills
• Flexibility to float and learn additional unit routines
