Roles & Responsibilities

• Perform transthoracic, transesophageal, exercise and pharmacologic stress echocardiography with precision and care
• Conduct EKGs, Holter prep/monitoring/analysis and cardiac stress testing as ordered
• Operate and troubleshoot echocardiography and cardiac monitoring equipment to deliver high-quality diagnostic data
• Assess and use hospital information systems for scheduling, processing and accurate study documentation
• Maintain infection control practices and employ aseptic technique during procedures
• Provide age-specific care, including specialized attention for neonatal and pediatric patients
• Serve as a clinical resource and preceptor for students and staff, offering clear guidance and feedback
• Communicate findings and collaborate with physicians, nursing and multidisciplinary teams to support patient care

Qualifications

• Registered Cardiac Sonographer (required)
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (required)
• Successful completion of an echocardiography certification program OR a minimum of 2 years hands-on echocardiography experience
• Preferred: Cardiovascular Sonography certificate and extensive hospital echocardiography experience
• Experience with pediatric and neonatal echocardiography highly desired
• Comfortable using hospital information systems for scheduling, processing and charging

Education

• High School Diploma or GED (required)
• Registered Cardiac Sonographer (required)
• Cardiovascular Sonography certificate (preferred)

Knowledge & Skills

• Echocardiography: TTE, TEE, stress (exercise and pharmacologic)
• Cardiac diagnostic testing: EKG/ECG, Holter monitoring, cardiac stress testing
• Operation and maintenance of echocardiography and cardiac monitoring equipment
• Infection control practices and aseptic technique for safe patient care
• Ability to provide age-specific care across neonates, pediatrics and adults
• Experience with hospital information systems for scheduling, processing and charging
• Clinical teaching and preceptorship skills to mentor students and new staff
