Roles & Responsibilities

• Evaluate patients in an acute inpatient rehab setting and create individualized care plans to restore function and independence
• Deliver evidence-based therapeutic interventions across orthopedics, neurology and cardiopulmonary cases
• Supervise and coordinate therapeutic care with PTAs, OTs, speech therapists and rehab techs to ensure cohesive treatment
• Document clinical findings, plans and progress clearly and promptly using Cerner PowerChart
• Use patient lifting equipment and assistive devices safely to maximize patient mobility while minimizing risk
• Communicate treatment goals and progress to patients, families and multidisciplinary staff to support continuity of care
• Maintain appropriate patient ratios and deliver one-on-one, patient-centered care

Qualifications

• Current North Carolina license to practice Physical Therapy (required)
• Bachelor of Science in Physical Therapy (required)
• BLS certification (required)
• Minimum ~2 years of experience (as noted) with at least 1 year acute care experience preferred
• Comfort and experience working with orthopedics, neurology and cardiopulmonary patient populations
• Proficiency with Cerner PowerChart or similar electronic health records

Education

• Bachelor of Science in Physical Therapy

Knowledge & Skills

• Skilled in patient evaluation and individualized care plan development
• Experience in acute inpatient rehab workflows and procedures
• Familiarity with patient lifting equipment (SARA+, Stedy, Maximove) and safe transfer techniques
• Strong documentation habits and electronic charting (Cerner PowerChart)
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills for multidisciplinary collaboration
• Ability to manage a varied caseload and prioritize effectively during busy shifts
