Roles & Responsibilities

• Assess, triage and provide high-quality nursing care in a fast-paced free-standing emergency department
• Perform IV starts, 12-lead EKGs and thorough patient assessments to support timely treatment
• Manage ventilated patients and operate point-of-care lab equipment as needed on the unit
• Document patient care accurately and efficiently in Meditech EMR
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to coordinate patient flow and safe discharges
• Provide patient- and family-centered education and maintain a calm presence during emergencies

Qualifications

• Active RN license in Texas or compact RN license
• Minimum ~1 year of Emergency Department or relevant acute care nursing experience
• BLS required; ACLS and other emergency certifications preferred
• Comfortable with FSED environment, ventilator care and point-of-care testing
• Strong teamwork, communication skills, and a willingness to rotate shifts and weekends

Education

• Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Nursing (ASN/BSN) preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Experience with Meditech EMR for clinical documentation
• Skilled in IV starts and vascular access techniques
• Proficient in performing and interpreting 12-lead EKGs and basic cardiac assessment
• Familiarity with ventilator basics and caring for respiratory patients
• Comfortable operating POC lab devices and handling rapid diagnostic testing
• Ability to triage, prioritize and manage multiple acute patients in a busy ED setting
