Roles & Responsibilities

• Deliver skilled, compassionate nursing care to MedSurg/Telemetry and oncology patients — your assessments matter
• Monitor and interpret telemetry and EKG strips, sign off on findings, and act on changes
• Manage post-surgical patients including total joint care with confidence and safety
• Administer and monitor set-rate drips such as heparin, following unit policy
• Document accurately and efficiently in Cerner to keep care seamless
• Collaborate with RT, CNAs, charge nurses, and house supervisors to ensure excellent patient outcomes
• Participate in shift huddles and handoffs to maintain continuity of care
• Float to other MS/Tele units, ICU, or ER as needed and bring a flexible, team-first attitude

Qualifications

• Current RN license in California (required)
• Minimum 2 years of recent nursing experience (MedSurg/Telemetry preferred)
• BLS and ACLS certification required; NIHSS certification required (AHA or APEX)
• Comfortable with telemetry monitoring and EKG strip interpretation
• Experience with Cerner charting preferred
• Ability to safely care for post-op total joint patients and common surgical populations
• Willingness to float to nearby units and respond to standby calls with a 30-minute response time

Education

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program (ADN or BSN)
• BSN preferred but not required

Knowledge & Skills

• Telemetry monitoring and EKG interpretation (Philips remote telemetry system familiarity helpful)
• MedSurg nursing principles and post-operative care (including Total Joints)
• CPAP/BiPAP familiarity and working with RT per orders
• Understanding of heparin drips and set-rate infusion management
• Strong clinical judgment, triage, and critical thinking for mixed patient assignments
• Effective communication, teamwork, and time management in a fast-paced acute setting
• Familiarity with nurse:patient ratios (1:4 Tele, 1:5 MedSurg) and CNA collaboration
