Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide rehabilitative, skilled and medically necessary OTA interventions under the supervision of an Occupational Therapist
• Deliver ADL retraining, therapeutic activities, therapeutic exercises and modalities tailored to each patient
• Use supportive and assistive devices and coordinate DME needs with the supervising OT
• Assess patient progress, report outcomes, and collaborate with the supervising OT to adjust the plan of care
• Document all regulatory and clinically required information in the electronic documentation system, including accurate treatment minutes and discharge summary input
• Communicate effectively with patients, families, caregivers, and interdisciplinary team members about treatment plans and goals
• Participate in patient care conferences, utilization review meetings and facility trainings to support quality care
• Supervise and support OTA students under the guidance of the Occupational Therapist

Qualifications

• Current OTA license/registration (Missouri; Compact license accepted)
• Minimum 1 year of OTA clinical experience required
• Experience in Long Term Care (LTC) or Skilled Nursing Facility (SNF) settings required
• New graduates accepted if they have Level II fieldwork experience (Level I observation alone is not sufficient)
• Demonstrated ability to document accurately in EHR and record treatment minutes per regulatory requirements
• Familiarity with Medicare requirements and participation in utilization review/care conferences
• Adherence to NBCOT/AOTA and state practice acts, professional conduct and ethics

Education

• Graduation from an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant (OTA) program or equivalent
• State OTA licensure/registration required

Knowledge & Skills

• ADL retraining and therapeutic activity planning
• Therapeutic exercises and use of modalities
• Patient assessment, progress reporting and outcome documentation
• Proficient in electronic health record documentation and accurate minute capture
• Experience with group therapy and DME coordination
• Interdisciplinary communication and participation in utilization review
• Evidence-based practice application and clinical decision support
• Ability to supervise and mentor OTA students
