Roles & Responsibilities

• Conduct non-treatment Compensation & Pension (C&P) exams and Separation Health Assessments for Veterans
• Perform interview-based evaluations and targeted physical assessments, including range of motion and muscle strength testing
• Document clear, timely exam reports and provide well-reasoned medical opinions
• Complete required onboarding and training promptly to begin conducting exams
• Manage follow-up administrative tasks such as addendums and diagnostic reviews
• Coordinate with VES operations to schedule appointments and ensure excellent Veteran experience
• Adhere to non-treatment scope — evaluate and document but do not prescribe or treat

Qualifications

• Active Nurse Practitioner (NP) credential/license in applicable state
• Clinical background in family medicine, internal medicine, orthopedic surgery, or general medicine
• Experience or familiarity with Compensation & Pension (C&P) exams is strongly preferred
• Comfort performing interview-based evaluations and basic physical testing (ROM, strength)
• Access to a private office within a 50-mile radius if choosing the 'own office' option
• Ability to complete credentialing, onboarding, and required training
• Pass required background checks and maintain up-to-date professional credentials

Education

• Master’s degree in Nursing (MSN) or equivalent NP certification

Knowledge & Skills

• Skilled clinical interviewing and history-taking focused on Veteran concerns
• Proficiency with range of motion and muscle strength testing techniques
• Strong medical documentation and report-writing skills
• Ability to interpret basic diagnostics and incorporate findings into medical opinions
• Familiarity with non-treatment exam protocols and C&P exam processes
• Comfort using credentialing portals and completing administrative follow-up
