Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate daily personal care to residents, promoting dignity and comfort
- Assist with bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and mobility support
- Take and record vital signs and report any changes to nursing staff promptly
- Support mealtime and feeding needs while encouraging resident independence
- Help maintain a safe, clean, and home-like environment for residents
- Document care and observations accurately and timely in resident records
- Collaborate with the care team to implement individualized care plans
- Build trusting relationships with residents and families through respectful communication
Qualifications
- GNA certification is required; equivalent certification (e.g., CNA) may be considered
- Current CPR/First Aid certification preferred or willing to obtain
- Comfortable assisting older adults with mobility and activities of daily living
- Strong communication skills and ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team
- Ability to pass background check, TB screening, and any facility-required health checks
- Previous experience in long-term care or geriatric settings is a plus
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent
- GNA certification (required) or equivalent certification
Knowledge & Skills
- Understanding of geriatric care principles and dignity-focused assistance
- Skill in safe resident handling and mobility support techniques
- Ability to measure and record vital signs accurately
- Familiarity with basic infection control practices
- Clear and compassionate communication with residents, families, and staff
- Comfortable with basic electronic or paper charting and documentation
