Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, person-centered care to geriatric residents, supporting dignity and comfort
• Assist residents with activities of daily living — bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support
• Monitor residents’ condition and report changes to the nursing team promptly
• Help with meal assistance and ensure residents’ nutritional needs are met
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation of care and observations
• Support a safe, clean, and respectful environment for residents and families
• Collaborate closely with nurses and interdisciplinary team members to deliver quality care

Qualifications

• Active GNA (Geriatric Nursing Assistant) certification required
• High school diploma or GED preferred
• Previous experience in long-term care or geriatrics is a plus
• Current CPR certification preferred or willing to obtain
• Ability to pass required background checks, TB screening, and facility immunization requirements
• Strong communication skills and a compassionate bedside manner
• Ability to perform safe resident transfers and assistive lifting

Education

• High school diploma or equivalent
• GNA certification (required)

Knowledge & Skills

• Understanding of geriatric care principles and respectful aging practices
• Basic vital signs measurement and resident observation skills
• Infection control and safe hygiene practices
• Safe body mechanics and transfer techniques
• Clear documentation and handoff communication
• Teamwork, patience, and the ability to de-escalate stressful situations
