Geriatric Nursing Assistant

Location: Brooklyn Park, MD

Contract Type: Per-Diem

Shift Type: Per diem (schedule varies), 3:00 PM - 11:00 PM, Evening shift

Hours per Week: 40

Candidate Pay Rate: $19 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities

Provide compassionate, hands-on care for geriatric residents, helping with activities of daily living
Assist with bathing, grooming, dressing, toileting, and mobility safely and respectfully
Monitor resident condition and report changes to nursing staff promptly
Assist with feeding and meal support while encouraging independence
Document care provided accurately and timely in the facility charting system
Collaborate with the care team to create a comfortable, dignified environment for residents

Qualifications

Current Geriatric Nursing Assistant (GNA) certification required
Comfortable working in long-term care/geriatric settings; prior experience a plus
Current CPR/Basic Life Support preferred per facility policy
Ability to pass background check, drug screen, and required facility onboarding
Strong communication skills and a team-oriented attitude

Education

High school diploma or GED preferred
Completed GNA training program and current certification

Knowledge & Skills

Knowledge of ADLs and safe resident handling techniques
Basic clinical observation skills (reporting changes in condition)
Resident-centered, compassionate caregiving approach
Good documentation and time-management skills
Ability to follow care plans and directions from licensed nursing staff
