Location: Bowie, MD

Contract Type: Per-Diem

Shift Type: Per diem (days vary), 3:00 PM - 11:00 PM (Evening shift)

Hours per Week: 40

Candidate Pay Rate: $17 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities

Provide compassionate, resident-centered care to geriatric patients, helping them feel safe and respected
Assist residents with activities of daily living (bathing, dressing, toileting, grooming) with dignity
Monitor and record vital signs, changes in condition, and report concerns to the nursing team promptly
Support mobility and safe transfers, following care plans and using proper body mechanics
Help create a warm, engaging environment by participating in activities and social interaction
Maintain accurate documentation and follow facility policies to ensure continuity of care

Qualifications

Current GNA certification (or state-recognized equivalent) required
Previous experience in long-term care or geriatric settings preferred
Basic life support (BLS/CPR) certification preferred or willing to obtain
Compassionate, patient-focused attitude with strong communication skills
Ability to perform physical tasks associated with resident care (standing, lifting, assisting)

Education

High school diploma or GED and completion of an approved GNA training program

Knowledge & Skills

Knowledge of geriatric care principles and dementia-aware approaches
Comfortable with basic clinical tasks: vital signs, personal care, transfers
Strong observation and reporting skills to communicate changes in condition
Infection control awareness and adherence to safety protocols
Team-oriented mindset and ability to collaborate with nurses and therapists
