Roles & Responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive echocardiogram studies including Transthoracic 2-D, M-Mode, Color-flow Doppler, Transesophageal, exercise stress and pharmacological echocardiography with accuracy and care
• Conduct additional cardiac diagnostic studies such as EKGs, Holter prep/monitoring/analysis, and cardiac stress tests to support timely clinical decisions
• Operate and optimize diagnostic equipment (echocardiographs, stress systems, electrocardiographs, Holter monitors) to deliver the best possible information to cardiology teams
• Manage scheduling, processing and accurate charging in hospital information systems to ensure smooth patient flow and documentation
• Implement infection control and aseptic techniques, maintaining rigorous equipment disinfection standards
• Provide clinical preceptorship and guidance to students from contracted colleges and universities
• Deliver age-specific patient care across the lifespan, with a special focus on neonatal and pediatric echocardiography
• Perform other duties as assigned within the scope of echocardiography and cardiac diagnostics

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
• Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS) credential required
• Successful completion of an echocardiography certification program and/or at least 2 years hands-on echocardiography experience
• Preferred: Cardiovascular Sonography certificate and extensive hospital-based echocardiography experience
• Preferred: Significant pediatric and neonatal echocardiography experience
• Comfort with student preceptorship and clinical teaching responsibilities

Education

• High School Diploma or GED (required)
• Completion of an echocardiography certificate program (preferred)
• Cardiovascular Sonography certificate (preferred)

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong skills in transthoracic echocardiography (2-D, M-Mode, color Doppler) and transesophageal echo
• Experience with exercise stress and pharmacological echocardiography
• Proficiency in EKG, Holter monitoring and cardiac stress testing
• Familiarity with hospital information systems for scheduling, processing and charging
• Solid infection control practices and equipment disinfection know-how
• Ability to communicate effectively with physicians, nursing staff, patients and students
