Roles & Responsibilities

• Deliver gentle, thorough dental cleanings that leave patients feeling fresh and confident
• Assess oral health and spot potential concerns early to help prevent bigger issues
• Capture high-quality X-rays and digital images to support accurate diagnoses
• Educate patients on personalized oral hygiene routines they'll actually enjoy
• Apply fluoride treatments and sealants to keep those smiles strong
• Partner closely with the dentist to deliver compassionate, top-notch care

Qualifications

• Active Dental Hygienist license in Virginia (or compact eligibility where applicable)
• Current CPR/BLS certification to keep everyone safe
• A warm, professional chairside manner that puts patients at ease
• Ability to manage time effectively and keep the day flowing smoothly
• Great communication skills—you can explain things in plain, friendly language

Knowledge & Skills

• Confidence with dental prophylaxis, scaling, and root planing
• Comfort using digital radiography and dental imaging software
• Solid understanding of sterilization protocols and OSHA standards
• Skill in teaching patients oral hygiene techniques without sounding like a lecture
• Familiarity with electronic dental charting and patient records
