Roles & Responsibilities

• Assist the orthodontist during examinations and procedures, ensuring a smooth and comfortable patient experience
• Prepare patients for orthodontic treatments, including braces and Invisalign adjustments
• Take and develop dental X-rays, impressions, and digital scans with precision
• Educate patients on oral hygiene and proper care for their orthodontic appliances
• Sterilize and organize instruments, keeping the treatment area ready for every patient
• Manage patient records and charting, documenting treatment progress accurately

Qualifications

• Must be fully knowledgeable in orthodontics, including braces and Invisalign
• Dental Assistant certification from an accredited program preferred
• Current CPR/BLS certification or ability to obtain it
• X-ray license/certification as required by Virginia state regulations
• Previous experience in a dental office, especially orthodontics, is a plus
• Excellent interpersonal skills and a positive, patient-centered attitude

Knowledge & Skills

• Orthodontic chairside procedures for braces and Invisalign
• Patient preparation and equipment sterilization
• Digital radiography and dental imaging
• Effective communication with patients and clinical team members
• Time management in a fast-paced dental environment
• Knowledge of dental software for charting and records
