Shift Type: Rotating shifts including weekends; Primary nights 11:00 PM - 7:00 AM (12-hour night shifts, every other week call required). Other possible shifts include Day 6:30 AM - 3:00 PM and Evening 3:00 PM - 11:00 PM. Call schedule variable 1x/week (8-hour call shifts overnight on weekdays and 8-hour weekend shifts).

Roles & Responsibilities

• Prepare the operating room and instruments, ensuring sterile technique and patient safety
• Assist surgeons and the OR team during trauma, orthopedic, vascular and general surgery cases
• Manage instrument counts and handle surgical instrumentation with precision
• Maintain accurate documentation in Cerner and communicate changes to the care team
• Respond to call shifts promptly and provide high-quality care during emergency procedures
• Support turnover between cases to maximize OR efficiency and patient throughput
• Participate in unit-based safety and quality initiatives to improve patient outcomes

Qualifications

• Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) via NBSTSA required
• BLS certification required
• Minimum 2 years of OR/Surgical Tech experience preferred
• Comfortable working nights, rotating shifts and weekend coverage
• Experience with Cerner or similar electronic charting systems is a plus
• Ability to pass credentialing and provide required documentation for submission

Education

• Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technology program or equivalent
• Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) via NBSTSA required

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong knowledge of sterile technique and OR safety protocols
• Familiarity with trauma, orthopedic, vascular and general surgery procedures
• Proficient instrument handling, counts and OR turnover processes
• Ability to chart and document accurately in Cerner
• Calm, efficient communication under pressure with surgeons and the perioperative team
