Roles & Responsibilities

• Assemble and prepare instrument trays with precision to support safe, efficient surgeries
• Perform endoscope reprocessing and high-level disinfection following facility protocols
• Operate and monitor sterilization equipment and testing (Steam, Steris, Sterrad) to ensure compliance
• Document processing activities in Sterile Processing Microsystem (SPM) and charting in Epic
• Maintain decontamination and sterilization areas, including ultrasonic cleaning and washer/sterilizer use
• Manage loaner/consignment trays and specialty equipment processing (robotics, laparoscopic, ortho, etc.)
• Troubleshoot and report instrumentation issues; ensure proper labeling and wrapping for sterilization
• Collaborate with OR and clinical teams to support smooth turnover and patient safety

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of travel Sterile Processing experience required (experienced travelers only)
• Charting experience required — Epic proficiency preferred
• Preferred certifications: CBSPD and/or IAHCSMM and/or HSPA
• Hands-on experience with Automated Endoscope Reprocessors (AER) and High-Level Disinfection (HLD)
• Knowledge of biological and chemical indicators and routine sterilization testing/monitoring
• Comfortable working in an acute, short-term acute care / Level III Trauma Center environment
• Ability to complete 40 hours of orientation and adapt to occasional weekend coverage

Knowledge & Skills

• Sterile Processing and Instrument Tray Assembly
• Endoscope Reprocessing (bronchoscopes, colonoscopes, EGD, ERCP, EBUS, EUS, etc.)
• Aseptic technique and proper sterilization wrapping procedures
• Automated Endoscope Reprocessors (AER) and High-Level Disinfection (HLD)
• SPM (Sterile Processing Microsystem) for instrument tracking
• Steam sterilization, Steris and Sterrad testing/monitoring
• Ultrasonic cleaner operation and use of washers/sterilizers
• Experience with specialty equipment processing including robotics
