Roles & Responsibilities

• Assess and monitor critically ill patients in the ICU, responding promptly to changes in condition
• Deliver high-quality, evidence-based nursing care including medication administration and advanced cardiac life support when needed
• Manage and monitor ventilators and hemodynamic support devices as appropriate for ICU patients
• Document patient care thoroughly and accurately using Cerner to ensure continuity and safety
• Collaborate with physicians, respiratory therapists, and the interdisciplinary team to create and execute patient-centered plans
• Maintain safe patient ratios and adapt to unit staffing patterns (1:5 day, 1:6 night as noted) to promote excellent outcomes
• Provide compassionate education and support to patients and families during critical care episodes
• Float to the ED on an as-needed basis while maintaining focus on quality and teamwork

Qualifications

• Active RN licensure (per state requirements) and current BLS certification (must have)
• ACLS certification required or ability to obtain prior to start (advanced skill)
• Minimum 2+ years of ICU or acute care experience working with critically ill adults
• Hands-on experience with Cerner or similar electronic health record systems
• Strong clinical assessment skills, critical thinking, and ability to work in a fast-paced environment
• Comfort with floating to Emergency Department as requested by the unit

Education

• Associate's Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Thorough knowledge of critical care nursing practices and ICU protocols
• Skill in ventilator management, hemodynamic monitoring, and advanced cardiac life support
• Proficiency documenting and retrieving patient data in Cerner
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills in multidisciplinary care settings
• Ability to prioritize care for multiple complex patients while maintaining safety and compassion
